A new Afrikaans sitcom featuring the cream of the crop of SA talent will take to the small screen on kykNET on Monday the 8 July. The thirteen-episode series is called Lui maar op, Belinda and, as hard as it is to believe, it will be the first time ever that two stars of stage and screen, Brümilda van Rensburg and Annelisa Weiland, will appear together in a series. Other leading cast members include Eric Nobbs, Carmen Maarman, Duncan Johnson, and newcomer Wian Taljaard. Lui maar op, Belinda is set in George where all the characters work at a general dealer. The main writer of the series is Chris Vorster, with the idea of having been conceptualised by Marcel Spaumer. This sitcom was recorded in our newly renovated Studio 4 at Atlantic Film Studios and we cannot wait for you to watch it!

In a statement issued by kykNET on Tuesday, 21 May 2019, the network teased the pilot episode by stating, “The series will kick off with a new appointment, the young whistle-blower Dirkie, who suddenly becomes the head of security. Then comes Maggie, Ian’s wife, with her nose in her husband’s affairs. Together they have to face the challenges of old age, but also learn that life is full of second chances and that one is never too old to have fun.”
